Custom walk-in closets

A walk-in closet built to last and built to delight

Integrated storage systems, drawers, shelves and wardrobes. Built in noble wood in our St-Eustache workshop for homes that deserve more than melamine.

MICHELENA walk-in closets

Optimized storage with no compromise on the material

The custom closet is often the first space sacrificed to the budget. White melamine, generic adjustable shelves, aluminum rods. Functional but anonymous. At MICHELENA, the walk-in receives the same treatment as the rest of the home. Noble wood, careful finishing and design adapted to each person’s wardrobe. Double or single hanging rods, compartmented drawers, shoe shelves, central island with jewelry drawers. Everything is sized based on real content, not on a prefabricated module.

Materials and design

Anatomy of a wood walk-in closet

The load-bearing structure is in hardwood for rigidity. Visible fronts are in noble wood or wood-lacquer combination depending on the desired style. Drawer interiors are lined with felt or fabric to protect delicate accessories.

  • Species and finishes for the dressing room

White oak for a bright, clean environment. Black walnut for a more intimate and contemporary look. Maple for a fine, uniform grain. The finish can be matte, satin or lacquered depending on the desired atmosphere. All species are the same as those used for interior doors, allowing visual continuity from the bedroom to the walk-in.

Elements we can build

What a MICHELENA custom walk-in can include

Every walk-in is designed based on the content to store and the available space. Here are the most frequently integrated elements.

  • Double and single hanging rods at adjusted heights
  • Compartmented drawers (jewelry, watches, ties, belts)
  • Inclined or flat shoe shelves
  • Central island with folding surface and integrated drawers
  • LED lighting integrated into shelves and hanging rods
  • Full-length mirror, recessed or on a pivoting door
Advantages

Why noble wood in a closet

Melamine or wire storage systems fill a function. Noble wood fills that function and transforms the daily experience.

Residential aesthetic

The wood walk-in blends into the visual language of the bedroom and adjacent bathroom. Same species as the doors, same finish as the moldings. No gap between spaces.

Superior durability

Melamine shelves sag under weight over time. Hardwood keeps its rigidity for decades. Dovetail drawers resist daily use without play or wear.

Added home value

A noble wood walk-in raises the perceived value of the primary bedroom. It is a selling point at resale and an element buyers notice on the first visit.

Process

From measurement to finished dressing room

Four steps to transform an empty room or an existing closet into a functional walk-in.

01
Survey and inventory

Room measurement and inventory of the content to store. Clothing, shoes, accessories, seasonal items. Quantities determine the number of hanging rods, drawers and shelves.

02
3D design

3D modeling of the closet to visualize the layout before manufacturing. Validation of species, finish and lighting location.

03
Manufacturing

The walk-in is built in modules sized to pass through the home’s doors and stairs. During manufacturing, each module receives its shelves, drawers and rods in the workshop; it arrives on site practically complete and assembles in place with no additional cutting.

04
On-site installation

Installation of wall modules, the island and accessories. LED lighting hookup. Final adjustments of drawers and doors for perfect alignment.
