Species and finish samples delivered to your office
MICHELENA mainly works with white oak, red oak, sapele mahogany and walnut. Each species is available in several stains and finishes (matte, satin, natural varnish, custom stain). Samples are delivered to your office for visual and tactile validation before final specification.
A partner that thinks material, texture and light
A designer sees the material before the product. The tone of a species under a specific light, the reaction of a matte finish to the touch, the continuity of a grain from door to floor. MICHELENA has worked for more than 20 years with designers who specify wood as a central element of their concept. Species, finishes and details are adjusted so the delivered product matches exactly the vision validated in the client presentation.
From mood board to finished product
Designers send a material board or a mood. Our artisans propose the species, stains and finishes that come closest, with variants to evaluate on physical samples. Decisions are made with the material in hand, not on screen.
What the workshop makes available
The resources a designer needs to integrate MICHELENA into a concept and present it to the client.
- Custom tone matching (wood, neighboring materials, existing floors)
- Showroom visits with clients by appointment
- Technical drawings and renderings for client presentations
- Support on hardware selection (coordinated finishes)
- Workshop visits for high-end projects on request
How we work with designers
Four steps for a collaboration that respects the design intent.
The designer shares the vision, the moods and the project constraints. Our artisans propose species, finishes and details that fit the intent.
Samples delivered to the office for validation with the client. Tone or finish adjustments if needed. Final decision made on physical material.
Technical specifications finalized and production launched in St-Eustache. Regular update points with the designer. Flexibility for adjustments during manufacturing if the concept evolves.
Coordination with the contractor or installation crew. Installation by our team or technical support to the designer’s team. Delivery synchronized with project handover.
What our artisans bring to a designer's work
Three reasons designers specify MICHELENA on their signature projects.
Flexibility on finishes
Custom stains, color matching and special finishes on request. Our palette is not a closed catalog. The designer proposes the tone, our artisans deliver it.
Strong client presentations
Clean samples, polished drawings, showroom visits by appointment. The tools needed to defend the specification in a client presentation, without the designer having to improvise.
Respect for the design intent
No species or finish is substituted without validation. What was validated in the client presentation is what is delivered. Adjustments are proposed to the designer, never imposed.
Designer questions
The designer working with MICHELENA asks five material-related questions: tone matching, available finishes, showroom access, samples, lead times. Here are the answers.
Yes. Tone matching is done from a physical sample or a reference (color chart, photo under controlled light). A validation sample is delivered before production.
Matte, satin and gloss varnish, oiled, transparent and opaque stains, bleached or fumed finishes. For special finishes outside the catalog, feasibility is assessed on request.
The showroom is visited by appointment, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Designers and clients can evaluate species, finishes and hardware on site. A call to 450-472-2447 is enough to book a slot.
Yes. On request, a selection of species and finish samples is delivered to the designer’s office for evaluation with the client. Samples are prepared according to the current project specification.
For a custom door, plan 6 to 8 weeks in the workshop. For a fit-out mandate (kitchen, offices, walk-in, wall paneling), the schedule depends on volume and sequencing with the other trades; it is confirmed at quote, in line with your site schedule.
